I was in the store with my wife few days ago, and it was an unprecedented surprise to see what one of the largest store in the city looks like. The store was gradually becoming totally empty of all essential needs. In fact, we had to go back home because the items we wanted to buy were no longer available. We went back the following day and it was not different from the previous day. Crowd grew more than what was expected. There were long queues at the point of payment, stretching into almost every part of the store. I was sharing this with a friend earlier, who said “I don’t know what will happen if it were to be a war.”
The ravaging impact is already being predicted to march the impact of World War II death if things continue this way. Thus, the fear of Coronavirus is globalized and this is not looking like it is going to be abated in a short time.
This brought to my clearer understanding what the writer of Hebrew was saying about those in the bondage of fear to death.
Hebrews 2:14-15 KJV
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; [15] And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
This is serious. Fear of death is what is in the air all over the world. The bible says the fear of death subjected people to lifetime bondage. Lifetime bondage!!! Some people in the event of Coronavirus will die, not of Coronavirus but because of what they will be pushed to do because of its fear. Just today, a fight ensued in a store that was overcrowded because of the apprehension and panic buying ongoing. One of the persons involved came to the store with a hand gun in a store in Toronto. If not that they could overpower the man, no one knows the number of deaths that may have been recorded. Quite a number must have suffered injuries in the stampede that followed the shout of a gun.
A lot of foolish acts are going on. Unsolicited counsels in the air all over. Some were even piling perishable foods not minding the best before date. This also reminded me when the Lord gave instruction about quail, given to the children of Israel in the wilderness. He told them not to take for the following day except on a day to sabbath. Still, people disobeyed and God brought their foolishness to their faces by bringing maggot out of the overstocked they had.
Let me tell you my reader, Jesus partook in flesh and blood to deliver you from the power of death. Can you ask yourself, why don’t I want to die? That may point you to the reality of why you were under the foolish fear of Coronavirus alias COVID-19.
What a freedom you are missing when you have not accepted the provision of God and believe in His package for life now and after death through the cross of Christ. Isaiah said in chapter 26:3
“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
See the way New Living Translation version puts is:
Isaiah 26:3 NLT
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
Is your thought fixed on Him? I invite you to come and enjoy the peace that comes through JESUS, let your heart rest on Him. Come unto Him all nations and people that are heavily laden by the fear of Coronavirus and He will give you rest.
Fear Him that can kill the body and the soul and throw them in hell
Matthew 10:28 KJV
“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
I call to tell you today, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Run from the coming judgment upon the world of sin and sinners, who refuses to accept JESUS, God’s only provision for salvation. We need to fear God now more than ever, instead of Coronavirus.
